Staging server refresh for Elsevier cloud-hosted clientsStaging server refresh for Elsevier cloud-hosted clients

Refreshing your Staging server with a copy of your Production server can be useful when a new version of Pure is released and you want to test this with your most current Production data. This article outlines the steps to take and consider during this exercise.

The information on this page only applies to clients hosted by Elsevier in the cloud.

Requesting a copy from Production to Staging

  • Submit a ticket using the Client Community Portal specifying the source and destination environments, along with your preferred downtime windows for the destination environment.
  • If flexibility is needed, stating ‘at your earliest convenience’ allows for quicker processing.

Important

Before making the request, read What to be aware of when doing a data copy. It is particularly important that you have created any User(s) that need to be able to log in to the Staging server after the refresh.

Scheduling

  • Refresh activities are scheduled during EU/CET working hours (Monday to Friday)
  • Pure Support will work with you to find a convenient time for the refresh
  • Your Staging server will be out of service for approximately 15-30 minutes, depending on the amount of data being copied
  • Refreshes cannot be automated or carried out on a regular basis

Cost policy

  • There is no cost to refresh a Staging server with a copy of a Production server, following the fair use policy
  • Following the fair use policy, multiple requests in a week may be turned down due to other priorities
