JISC Publication RouterJISC Publication Router

The JISC Publication Router provides a way to receive notifications from publishers whenever a publication with their affiliation has been added or updated. By bypassing indexing services such as Scopus or Web of Science, the JISC Router speeds up the import of relevant content into Pure.

JISC is only available for UK clients

Overview

Content type  License / subscription Available for Automated search Integrated with Available Updates
Research output Yes (API Key and ID) No No

Set up online source

Go to Administrator > Research outputs > Online sources > JISC

Setting Description Notes
Jisc Publications Router integration Turn on/off integration
→ Import status and log

The job is not shown in the Cron Job list, but job logs are stored here.

  • This job handles both Import candidates and Available updates
  • The job is self-scheduled and will run everyday somewhere between 6AM and 8AM
  • For updates it only goes through content that Jisc provides updates for

If the last run was less than 25 hours ago, then the job will not run.

→ Configuration
  • The API key and ID are unique to each customer and it is provided by JISC on application.
  • If you want to use the integration you must first contact Jisc and complete a legal agreement to get account setup and allocated credentials.
    • Details available at: https://pubrouter.jisc.ac.uk/about/start-up-guide-for-institutions
  • Once part of JISC and once the agreement to use the router is in place, a router account will be allocated with ID and API key details
  • JISC can usually set you up with a feed into a test instance of your platform (to avoid disturbing your live system).

Automatic Import Configuration Specify how automatic import should be handled in Pure:
→ Default managing organisation Select the default managing organisation that will be added to content if the source does not provide it. If the 'Automated search' is triggered by a specific organisation, that organisation will be used as the default managing organisation instead.
Content deduplication rules (optional)
Select from available deduplication rules. Existing content will always be matched based on external IDs and DOIs. This, together with the additional rules selected here, will determine whether or not content is skipped (considered duplicate).

→

Content deduplication configuration

Match publication on title and year:

  • Pure will match publications on title and year
See details in the source configuration.
Create import candidates

Allow the integration to automatically create import candidates.

  • The Import candidates can be found in Editor > Research Output > Organisations with import candidates.

Create content directly Allow the integration to create content directly in Pure.
Direct content creation configuration Select from available requirements. Content will only be created if the selected requirements are met. If requirements are not met and the source has import candidates enabled, the content will instead be created as import candidates.
→

Content creation requirements configuration (optional)

  • Match at least one internal person

Matching rules (optional)

  • Allow matching of internal person on name

Data enrichment rules (optional)

  • Add internal organisation to authors based on person organisations
See details in the source configuration.
Default workflow Select the workflow step that content created by this import will be placed in.
Bulk Mode

Allow the 'Search for import candidates (Cron job) to run in bulk mode for this specific import source.

The job will check the import source for all content related to a researcher or an organisation. All matched content will be imported into Pure according to the configured import rules. The job will check for content related to each researcher/organisation only once. After that, it will run again in default mode.

You can check job status in Administrator > Jobs > Job log.

You can re-run the job in bulk mode in two ways:

  1. In 'Automated search' settings of a specific import source:
    1.  'Reset history' for the individual researcher or organisation.
  2. In 'Automatic Import Configuration:
    1. Turn 'Bulk mode' setting off, save, turn 'Bulk mode' back on, and save again.

Note: The bulk mode resets 'Automated search' history for the specific import source for the researchers or organisations that have 'Automated search' enabled, but does not apply to non-academic personnel.
