Dear customers,

Funding Agencies have made grant opportunities related to COVID available. Researchers are actively seeking funding opportunities to work on COVID related research.

What's NEW: Pure customers can import Funding Opportunities into Pure on the topic of COVID immediately, at no cost, without paying any subscription fees to Funding Opportunity database providers and with no additional charges from Pure.

Background: Elsevier operates a funding landscape scanning and opportunity discovery database called "Funding Institutional" which contains opportunities from funders around the world.  An annual subscription to this database provides value to the Pure customer because it helps discover funding opportunities and also because it's easy to move funding opportunities from this database into Pure for workflow tracking and followup.

Pure Customers who have not subscribed to Funding Institutional:

In order to help our customers be as efficient as possible in working through the COVID pandemic we are making it possible for Pure customers who do not have a subscription to Funding Institutional to have access to the COVID-related opportunities at least until 30 November, when we will assess whether this is useful for customers going forward.  Pure customers opting into this will receive a regular import of Opportunities from Funding Institutional that match to a set of terms that we have determined to be useful for finding COVID-related research.  Why? Grant Office support teams may wish to assess the applicability of these opportunities for their organization, track followup on those Opportunities and relate them to teams or persons for further followup.

**Please note - In order to be able to make use of this, you need to be on Pure 5.17.3-2 release or higher. **

For Funding Institutional customers

It will be possible of course to use the same query as we are using to find the relevant opportunities yourself and to use the integration to import them. You may also, of course, adjust the query as needed. 

How to enable the import

Enable the integration on the Administrator tab at Administrator > Integrations > Funding Institutional.

Click to the configuration tab

Enter the two fields as follows:

Institution token: 01032f14ce3c8d226ce9906c95ea198b

Consumer key: A7YEM-NX32F-64TXY-WGUVA-SLFIO

As these above keys are connected to a shared central account so only Pure customers who are not currently subscribers to Funding Institutional, or who are not using a general sales trial Funding Institutional account, should set this up.

Funding Institutional customers will want to manage their own custom feeds of Opportunities from their own tailored Funding Institutional Account.

If you are using either a paid Funding Institutional subscription account or a free trial Funding Institutional account, please use Funding Institutional to set up the query for yourself and push opportunities into Pure from that customer specific account.

What is the scope of the Opportunities I will receive? 

The search query:

We are currently using the following search query to select and automatically deliver COVID opportunities to customers that choose to use it. For customers that already subscribe to Funding Institutional, you can also easily set the query up in Funding Institutional and push the opportunities found by the query into Pure using the standard integration. In both instances we will not create duplicate opportunities in Pure, as we record identities for these opportunities in Pure.

As mentioned in our webinar about integrating Funding Opportunities from Funding Institutional to Pure, once an opportunity is imported to Pure, we will ensure that updates to the original opportunity are also reflected in Pure. So if the funding agency republishes an update on that opportunity (e.g. expansion of funding, cancellation of the call for proposals, correction to who is eligible), that revised description of the opportunity will flow from the funding agency's website through Funding Institutional and into Pure! So you will come to see the updated funding Opportunity in Pure!
