History and Comments: Modified Automated Search for Publications in Online SourcesHistory and Comments: Modified Automated Search for Publications in Online Sources

What

In the content editor window there is a tab with History and comments. This shows the overall actions on the content.
In some cases you'll see this message: Modified automated search for publications in online sources:

Why

If you have configured an online import source such as Scopus or Web of Science, it is possible to also setup an automated search for persons and organizations for these sources.
The way this works is that you can specify certain search terms and/or IDs that will be used by a job that runs in the background on a scheduled basis using this information to search for possible publications related to these persons/organisations.
Note: This job will only include persons with the automated search is enabled.

To support this behavior and to make it easier for the user, we both add suggested search terms and IDs to these search configurations automatically when e.g. a known as name or an ORCID is added to a person. This happens regardless of whether the automated search is enabled or not and that explains some of the scenarios that may be seen in the history.

Another scenario that explains this log is that when an import source (e.g. Scopus, WoS) is enabled, then the next time you save a person (through the editor or synchronisation) then we also create a search configuration for this person that also creates an entry in the history:
