Dataset configurationDataset configuration

Datasets can be configured and adapted to meet local needs. This is done from Administrator > Datasets > Configuration.

Default publisher

Datasets need a Publisher assing, as a mandatory field. By setting a default Publisher you can make sure this is filled from the start.

Configure which roles are allowed to create content

This section allows you to limit content creation to specified roles. By default it is set to Everybody, so everyone can create a Dataset. Other options are:

Roles Description
Nobody Datasets can only be created from an external source.
Administrators and editors All roles related to Datasets can create.
Administrators Only Administrator of datasets and Administrator can create Datasets

In addition it can be toggled if Datasets are

Modifiable by associated persons

And / Or

Deletable by associated persons

Default is On (Yes).

Upload of datasets

Allow users to upload files associated with a dataset:

Enable file upload on template OR Disable file upload on template

Max file size in MB; allows you to set a size limit if Enable file upload on template is selected. The Dataset content type can be configured to allow large file uploads, with reliable upload of files up to 20GB in ~60mins using Firefox and Chrome.  Setting the size to 0 equals no limit

Show 'Legal/Ethical' constraints (Please fill out)

Allow users to define legal and ethical constraints for the datasets, such as data protection, ethical approval and commercial constraints.

Enable 'Legal/Ethical' constraints on template OR Disable 'Legal/Ethical' constraints on template

Portal contact email address

When enabled, the specified portal contact email address will be displayed on the Dataset's Portal page, rather than the named associated contact persons on the Dataset's backend record. Your portal may need to be updated to support this configuration.

Enable portal contact email address

Select:

Show contact person associated with the dataset
Or
Show generic contact email address on portal
This option will allow you to fill in an email below in the Portal contact email address field.

Access to Dataset

Show or hide Access to Dataset option.

Datasets imported from sources such as Mendeley or Data Monitor will show the Access to Dataset option regardless of this setting

Show roles

Toggle to Show roles in the short render. Roles are the roles added for each Person in the Dataset.

Funding information import settings

Funding information includes:

  • Funding details such as funder organization names and acronyms, and funding numbers

When enabled, users and automated jobs will be able to import funding information.

Saving

Remember to save the settings after reconfiguration!
