DatasetsDatasets

Datasets contains information about a dataset, which is stored either directly in Pure or in an external location, such as DataCite. Datasets are often created manually or imported from DataCite. Dataset DOIs can be minted directly from Pure.

 

The content type is be default disabled. Administrators of Pure will have to enable this in Administrator > Datasets > Enable Datasets

Note, that a restart of Pure is expected before the changes will take effect. 

 

Metadata fields

A dataset has a.o. these metadata fields:

  • Title and description of dataset
  • Date of data production
  • Associated Persons or Organizational units
  • Organizational unit managing the dataset
  • Publisher name
  • Dataset DOI
  • Electronic data (File upload)
  • Max file size support, when file upload is enabled for datasets (Configured under administrator tab) a maximum file size can be specified. Defaults to 1024 MB.
  • Information on physical data and location
  • Date made available
  • Access and compliance
  • Contact person for dataset
  • Temporal coverage
  • Geographical coverage and geo location
  • Legal and ethical conditions (optional)
  • Funding details

Datasets configuration

Configure Datasets from Administrator > Datasets > Configuration

Workflow

Datasets can hold a workflow with 3 steps. Enabling workflow will make the content type appear with workflow state visible in bottom of the Dataset metadata editor. Default is workflow disabled and it must be enabled by Administrators of Pure in Administrator > Datasets > Workflow configuration.

Re-validation can be enabled for Datasets. This will trigger that edits to an already validated Datasets will be flagged with a task to revalidate. Learn more about Fields that trigger revalidation.

Roles

The following roles are available to handle Datasets:

Organisational roles

  • Editor of Datasets
  • Reporter of Datasets

Global roles

  • Administrator of Datasets
  • Global reporter of Datasets

Datasets and DataCite

Learn about the integration with DataCite. This includes setting up, using automated search and minting DOIs.
