How Can We Help?
Open Access on Pure PortalOpen Access on Pure Portal
Portal visibility
DOI and Links
Input DOIs and Links are always made visible on the Portal (subject of course to record visibility selection), regardless of the Public access to file selection.
The Public access to file selection should reflect whether / how an individual is able to access the full text. If a DOI is selected as ‘Open’, this means that the reader is able to access the file via the stated DOI, Note: The DOI URL needs to be made visible on the Portal.
Files
When ‘Public access to file’ is 'Unknown', the document is seen as 'Closed' and is not made available in the Portal.
If the document is under embargo – the document will not be shown on the Portal, but the following details will be shown:
- that there is an embargoed document attached
- the duration of the embargo and
- the title of the document
This information could potentially help the user retrieve the document from another source, for instance via a “Request for copy” to the author (see 3.5. Request Copy functionality for embargoed electronic versions of Research Outputs at the 5.8.0 Release note).
Indicator of Open Access
If the electronic versions on the record point to an open version - this is indicated by the OA icon (see also Open Access icon in Pure).
Filtering on Open Access
When using Portal search, it is possible to filter out Research Outputs that have the Open Access indicator (see also Open Access icon in Pure).
