How Can We Help?
Merge WarningsMerge Warnings
What
When trying to merge duplicate organisations and/or person profiles you might encounter one (or a combination) of the below warnings.
Persons and organisations warnings:
- Cannot merge synchronised content into unsynchronised content (target)
Persons specific warnings:
- Merge target is a student, and source is not. Please verify that the target is correct
- Both source(s) and target have a user. Note: The source(s) user will no longer be attached to any persons
Why
Cannot merge synchronised content into unsynchronised content (target)
- This usually occurs when you try to merge a synchronised person or organisation into an unsynchronised person or organisation which is not allowed. In this case, you will need to switch your target so that you are merging the unsynchronised version into the synchronised version.
- This also occurs if you are trying to merge two synchronised persons or organisations together. The merge does not support merging two synchronised versions so the fix would be to remove one of the versions from the synchronisation so it is retired. You should, then be able to merge the retired version into the synchronised version.
Merge target is a student, and source is not. Please verify that the target is correct
- This warning was introduced as a safeguard so that a staff profile was not merged into a student profile. You can choose to keep the student as the target if you wish, but the warning in shown in case that was not the intended route.
Both source(s) and target have a user. Note: The source(s) user will no longer be attached to any person
- When you merge two (or more) persons who have users attached to them, the target user is the one that will be kept. The other user(s) will no longer be attached to any person, but if that user(s) have other roles attached to them then the user will still be able to login. This warning message, in the merge screen, shows as just that, a warning - this does not hinder the actual merge.
