Cron job: Check Content and FilesCron job: Check Content and Files

This cron job checks all content, ensuring that it can be validated according to the current validation rules and ensures that all files on the content can be read.

As the data model changes over time in Pure, new fields have been added due to various requirements and general development. In these cases where new required fields are present on your content that have not been filled, you will see warnings or error messages in this job log. The job tests all the content in Pure by simulating opening and saving each item in its relevant Editor window.

It also makes sure that all attached files can be located and opened from either the file system or, if you are using an external file store such as DSpace and EPrints.

If your institution has only recently begun using Pure then this job should not generate warnings – it is intended for clients who have large amounts of existing content that may be affected by upgrades and changes to the data model.

Recommended frequency

We recommend that you run this job as part of your upgrade cycle, once before an upgrade and once again after an upgrade. The differences between the results of these runs are not necessarily negative. They will just inform you about the changing requirements on your content between versions of Pure.
