How Can We Help?
Web of Science and use of quotaWeb of Science and use of quota
Web of Science (WoS) sets a quota on how much data you can import using the various integrations. This page explains the number of calls used when importing and updating data from Web of Science. Depending on the subscription you have with Clarivate your quotas may differ from the description below.
API Type | Standard Quota | Notes |
---|---|---|
Starter API | Standard quota is 5.000 calls per day | Your institution may have another quota |
Expanded API | Standard quota is 50.000 calls per year | Your institution may have another quota |
When importing publications into Pure, we use the starter API as much as possible, because this API gives you most calls toward your quota.
Therefore, when searching for content we always use the Starter API, but when retrieving content we use the Expanded API if you have a subscription or else the Starter API
How can I see my current usage?
You can always track how much of your quota you have used from Administrator > Integrations > Request tracking.
This area will show an overview of how many tracking requests that has been used for your current quota.

There are tracking pages for requests made to Web of Science by different import jobs in Pure. This includes requests made to the Starter API and, when enabled, the WoS Expanded API.
The tracking pages allow the monitoring of requests made to these APIs by the following import jobs in Pure.
