Announcement of deprecation of WorldCat as import source
We would like to inform you that WorldCat has announced its current API will be deprecated by January 1st, 2025. After careful consideration, we have decided not to upgrade our connection to WorldCat. As a result, WorldCat will no longer be available as an import source.
Our analysis of Pure usage statistics indicates that WorldCat is one of our least-utilized import sources, with fewer than 200 publications a year across all our clients. While we recognize that WorldCat serves a specific need, particularly in the areas of Arts & Humanities and Social Sciences, we are exploring alternative sources that can meet those requirements.
Important dates:
January 1, 2025: It will no longer be possible to import publications from WorldCat
Version 5.31.3: WorldCat will be removed from the Pure user interface
Pure Core: Administration
Remove duplicate funding details
Occasionally, imported publication and dataset funding details may contain duplicate funding data. We have introduced a check for duplicate funding details in this release and added a job, “Deduplicate funding details”, to correct already introduced duplicate funding details.
The job can be accessed from Administrator > Jobs > Cron job scheduling, and will check all funding data on research outputs and datasets. The job will merge (external) organisations that have the same Pure ID, and any funding numbers will be added to the merged organisation on the publication or dataset.
