What

You can import an Award with milestones through Administrator > Bulk import > Awards and projects.  
Or synchronise them through the Award Synchronisation found under Administrator > Jobs > Cron Job Scheduling. 
After adding the milestones you can't update them through bulk import or the job.

Why

• Because Pure is meant to be the main system for maintaining data like milestones, it is never possible to update or add milestones on existing Awards through the bulk import or the Award Synchronisation.
• Note: It is not only milestones that can't be updated if you enable "Update awards maintained in Pure" in the Award Synchronisation: 
  
  
  • This setting is also known as "Budget & Expenditure mode" and when this is enabled only a subset of the data can be synchronised.
