Workflow Labels: Difference Between the Red Revalidate Label and the For-Revalidation LabelWorkflow Labels: Difference Between the Red Revalidate Label and the For-Revalidation Label

What

When Research Outputs are pushed between workflow states, you can always see the current workflow step on a Research Output in the labels shown in the Research Output list view.

If you also have Revalidation in your workflow, you might have come across two labels which seems very similar.

This KB describes the difference between the 'For re-validation' label and the red 'Revalidate' label on Research Outputs.

How

  • Red 'Revalidate' label

This label is always flagged, when previously approved or validated content has been modified by an Academic, and therefore needs to be re-validated by an Editor or Validator.
Those records are therefore marked for revalidation and gets the Revalidate label.
  • 'For re-validation' label

Some Research Outputs also get the label 'For re-validation'. These Research Outputs will have both the "For re-validation" and the 'Revalidate' label.

Here is the reason why. In Pure we distinguish between Research Outputs:

  • Validated Research Outputs, which have been pushed to the re-validation state after an Academic has modified the meta data.

versus

  • Research Outputs that have only been approved, when they enter re-validation after an Academic has modified the meta data.

  • When an Approved Research Output enters re-validation, it stays as Approved, the current workflow step is therefore Approved.
It will have the labels Revalidate red label and the Approved label. It is then the Editors task to revalidate the record and then push it from Approved step to the For validation step.
  • When a Validated record has entered revalidation, it gets pushed from the Validated workflow step into a workflow step called For re-validation step - so For re-validation is the naming of the current workflow step of the record. The record will have the red Revalidate label and the For re-validation label.
It is then the Validators task to revalidate the record and mark it as Validated again.
