1. Administration module
1.1. Open Access Improvements : Restricting users from deleting or replacing Electronic versions from validated records
This release includes the following:
- Following on from functionality delivered in 5.6.2 (4.25.2) where it was possible to configure Pure to restrict specified user types from deleting Electronic versions (files, DOIs, links) from validated records, we've expanded this to also restrict these users from being able to replace Electronic versions (files)
Click here for more details …
In 5.6.2 (4.25.2) it became possible to configure the Research Output editor to restrict Personal users and/or Editors of Research Outputs from deleting Electronic versions (files, DOIs, links) from Validated / Approved Research Output records. If the restriction is in place, users will continue to be able to edit the properties of individual electronic versions (e.g. Public access to file, license), but will not be able to simply delete them.
The configuration is available in Administrator > System settings > Publication - Allow Personal Users / Editor of Research output to delete electronic versions (files, DOIs, and links) on approved / validated research output records.
We have now expanded this configuration to also restrict these users from being able to replace Electronic versions (files) on approved / validated research output records:
Roles affected: Personal Users, Editor of Research Outputs
2. Pure Portal
2.1. Stemming added for concept search
When searching for persons with specific expertise in the Pure Portal a so called concept search is made against the fingerprints of the publications and profiles in Pure. In some cases users might be searching for the singular version of a concept and in others maybe the plural version. Previously this have yielded different search results.
In Pure 5.7.1 we have introduced stemming to these searches to provide more consistent search results. Stemming is the process of reducing inflected words to their word stem, base or root form. So as an example, with stemming, no matter if you search for neuroscience or neurosciences you will get the same search result.
