How Can We Help?
5.9.25.9.2
We are pleased to announce that version 5.9.2 (4.28.2) of Pure is now released
Always read through the details of the release before installing or upgrading to a new version of Pure
Release date: 3 of August 2017
Hosted customers:
- Staging environments will be updated 9 August 2017 (APAC + Europe) and 10 August 2017 (US)
- Production environments will be updated 10 August 2017 (APAC + Europe) and 10 August 2017 (US)
Be aware of the Upgrade Notes - failing to adhere to these may result in loss of functionality
PARTICULAR ITEM TO NOTE WITH THIS RELEASE: POTENTIAL LOSS OF FUNCTIONALITY
SciVal, Scopus, and Embase switching to HTTPS
- SciVal, Scopus and Embase integrations will switch to an encrypted connection using HTTPS instead of using HTTP at the end of September 2017. This is reflected in Pure from version 5.8.3 on for SciVal and 5.6.0 for Scopus and Embase. If you are running Pure version 5.8.3 or later from September on, this will not affect you. If you run an earlier version, you will need to address this to ensure retention of functionality. See here now.
Content validation
You are generally encouraged to check all content in the re-validation workflow step prior to upgrade as changes to the underlying datamodel may not be reflected in the re-validation overview screen (see example)
Further, you are encouraged to check if all content can validate prior to an upgrade of Pure. This check is done by running the Check content and files job and resolving any data validation issues that are flagged by the job

1. Reporting module
1.1. Export function now available in new Reporting module Technology Preview
This release includes new export functionality in the new Reporting module Technology Preview. Reports can now be exported in both .xlsx format (for use in MS Excel) or in .csv format (for use in other third party tools such as Tableau, Business Objects, etc.)
Notes:
- When you choose to export the datatable, your browser will treat this like a download. As such, once the file is generated, it will appear where your downloads are normally available in your browser
- If the export you are generating is particularly large, there may be a period where it appears as though nothing is happening (we are working on fixing this for a future update) - might be a good time for a coffee if it's a really big file
2. Press / Media : Newsflo integration
2.1. Potential issue with Newsflo integration
We have identified a potential issue with Pure's integration Newsflo. If your instance of Pure does not integrate with Newsflo, you can ignore this note.
What has happened?
On 26 July, there was an issue in Newsflo that caused Newsflo to reject Pure's API key. This resulted in all Newsflo content being deleted from all Pure instances. After a number of hours, Newsflo started working again and Newsflo content came back into Pure. However, if you or any of your users had manually edited any Newsflo content items in Pure (e.g. changed Visibility or added any relations), these changes will have been overwritten and need to be restored. The changes can occur in three places for a Newsflo content item:
- Visibility (Portal and Web services)
- Relations to other content
- Relations to events
What needs to be done?
We have been in direct contact with those institutions we believe to have been affected in order to arrange restoration of the affected data. If we have not been in touch but you know or you suspect that you have been affected by this issue, please contact us at Pure-Support@elsevier.com.
This issue has been fixed from version 5.9.2.
3. Australia : ERA2018 module
3.1. Improved support for FoR editing
This release includes new functionality to support Field of Research (FoR) editing and viewing:
- Bulk editing of ERA Researcher FoR assignments
- Bulk editing of ERA Research Output FoR assignments
- Introduction of new 'Reason' field on ERA Researchers and ERA Research Outputs, where the FoR assignment on the ERA record differs from that on the associated Person / Research Output
- Introduction of new FoR columns:
