What

If a Research output has a full text file and you open this in the Pure Portal, then the link to that file looks similar to this:
https://purename/ws/portalfiles/portal/*56478945*/filename.pdf

This number refers to a file ID within Pure.

Note:

  • If the file is replaced, then this link in the portal will change, because the old file will be deleted and the new file will be uploaded with a new ID. The reason for this is that Pure needs unique identifiers and cannot re-use IDs as this without a problematic outcome.
  • If anything else on the electronic version data is changed or updated, such as 'Access permissions', but the file remains the same, then the File ID does not change.
