Introduction
When importing a publication found as a result of PRS Pure tries to match the author to either an internal or external person and the author's affiliation to either an internal or external organization. How Pure does this match is outlined in the table below:

Is the author of the Scopus publication an internal person in Pure?

Is the publication written while the person works for your institution? In Pure a publication can be internal (written while the author works for the current institution) or external (written while the author worked for another institution) |
If possible, the person found in Scopus is matched to an external person in Pure based on name and Scopus Author ID. For the two persons to be considered as a match the Scopus ID or Name must be a unique match. If there is no match the person found in Scopus is created as a new external person in Pure. |

The internal person is set as author on the publication in Pure (using Source ID of the person). Pure apply organisations based on the internal person´s organisation affiliations using the following logic:
An internal person in Pure will therefore always be associated to an internal organisation on the publication if the publication is internal for that person |
The internal person is set as author on the publication in Pure. Scopus typically has information about what organisation the publication is written in context of, both the department and institution. When importing a Scopus publication, only the institution is used as external organisation. If possible, the organisation found in Scopus is matched to an external organisation in Pure based on Scopus Affiliation ID or Name. For the two organisations to be considered as a match and thereby the same external organisation it is required that name, address, ID etc. are unique matches. If there is more than one organisation in Scopus for the same institution there will most likely also be duplicate external organisations in Pure, except if all the data is exactly the same. If there is no match the organisation found in Scopus is created as a new external organisation in Pure (including Scopus Affiliation ID) An internal person in Pure will therefore always be associated to an external organisation on the publication, if the publication is external for that author |
