How Can We Help?
Default Research Output Types and TemplatesDefault Research Output Types and Templates
What
In Pure, it is possible to add/customize subtypes under Administrator > Research Output > Types, by clicking 'Edit' next to any template name and then clicking 'Add subtype' at the bottom of the template.
Implications of creating your own Research Output types
You might face some issues/errors when creating new subtypes.
What are some common issues?
Some of the things you need to consider before adding new Research Output (RO) sub-types to Pure are listed below:
- Note that when you import research outputs from an online source Pure will not map those records to the new Research Output subtypes.
- Pure cannot export records of this new type to ORCID unless you add the new type to the ORCID mapping file (the export to ORCID job will throw error logs if not added to the ORCID mapping file)
- There might be consequences for assessment module mapping
- CERIF import/export - Other universities may not have the same type
- Pure API - You may need to inform users of the Pure API of the newly added types
- Historic data may need to be moved to the new type (bulk change)
You can, however:
- Report on the new type
- Show content of the new type on portal
- The new type is available in web service and CVs
- Filter on the type on portal
- Filter on the type in Pure backend
