System messagesSystem messages

As Pure administrator it can be useful to be able to notify your users about upcoming events that may affect e.g. unavailability in relation to an upgrade, interrupted or new features or similar. In addition messages to users notifying about awaiting tasks must be send by Pure.

System messages can be used exactly for this purpose.

To compose a System message, go to Administrator > Messages and Text resources > System messages.

From here you can see all previous messages (Unless they are deleted) and can compose a new message from New system message. This will open an empty editor ready to fill in.

Subject

is simply the title of the message.

Message

The message body must be composed from the Message field.

Tip: See “Format a System Message for tricks on formatting this.

Message settings

This will determine how the recipients will see the message. See below for options:

Display as banner

This will lead to a banner text that displays when you log in:Picture

Display as dialog

This will show a dialog box to read before you can continue. If you press Close, the message will show again on next login.

Send as email

Will send out the message to all users (see Select roles for this message below).

This will override any user mail settings, to make sure all users are informed.

Dates

If send message on is set to today, the message will go out when you save the system message, so make sure to check the message is finalised.

It may be an idea to test in your staging or test Pure if you have test.

If the event or subject for the message is not relevant after a specific date, you can set a Delete message after-date, which makes sure the message is removed when this date has passed. Thereby will users who did not log in between the Send and Delete date, never see the message (unless it was sent out as email).

Send message on behalf of other user

In case you need to have formal sender, other than yourself, this can be filled in with a name and email.

Select roles for this message

Some messages may only be relevant to selected groups of users, based on user role. For example, if new functionality has been added for Administrators, there’s no need to message everyone else about this. It may also be a message only relevant for Personal users, then this can be selected. Or a mix of roles.

Press Save to send out the message. If the Send date is after today, the message will go out on that date.
