How Can We Help?
Choosing your UsersChoosing your Users
When you begin your Pure implementation, you should decide who will eventually need access to the system. Aside from your Pure Administrators, this may include other administrative staff and researchers.
Access is granted by creating User records, each of which must include a username and an email address. Users can also be granted one or more roles, which are sets of permissions that define what parts of Pure they can interact with and how. For each category of people you wish to add as Users, you should also consider the following:
- What is the source of your User data for these people?
- Do you need to relate any User records to Person records for these people? How will you maintain these relations?
User records have no bearing on the license count (see License count).
Decision matrix
Users and Persons are separate content types; some categories of people will have both a Person record and a User record, while some will have only one or the other. Use this decision matrix to decide which categories of people in your institution need Users.
