Please follow the general Upgrading Pure documentation as well as the 5.19.0 (4.38.0) specific instructions below.
In order to keep your Pure installation secure and stable please make sure to keep the components involved in serving requests to Pure up-to-date. Please refer to the Supported platforms page for details on supported and recommended versions.

We strongly recommend that you do not attempt to skip any more than three major releases when upgrading as to do so increases the risk of migration errors.
Content validation
You are generally encouraged to check all content in the re-validation workflow step prior to upgrade as changes to the underlying data model may not be reflected in the re-validation overview screen (see example)
Further, you are encouraged to check if all content can validate prior to an upgrade of Pure. This check is done by running the Check content and files job and resolving any data validation issues that are flagged by the job
Content Security Policy
Updates to Content Security Policies (CSP)
With the introduction of Pendo the The CSP needs to be updated, if this have been configured. What needs to be added are:

See the full CSP on Security guide. If these isn't added to the CSP the Pendo integration won't work, and we cannot show the new tooltips, guides etc. for the users.
Reverse Proxy Configuration
Update to guidance on reverse proxy configuration
With the SameSite requirement that affected cookies must be secure it is important to review the reverse proxy configuration as Tomcat will not deliver these cookies over an insecure connection.
If you use Apache/AJP, please ensure that the secure="true" attribute is present on the AJP connector.
If you use something else please follow this guide.
Pure Portals
Backwards compatibility for Pure Portals
As previously communicated, we provide support for only the three most recent major releases of the Pure Portal. This means that as of the launch of Pure 5.18.0, versions 5.15.0 and earlier will not be officially supported by the Pure team.
If you continue to run an earlier version, new features and bug-fixes will not be available. We are also unable to make any commitment as to the performance and stability of your Portal. We therefore strongly recommend you regularly upgrade Pure to ensure Pure Portal compatibility.
NOTE : this issue is only relevant for customers who have the Pure Portal AND are responsible for managing their own upgrades
Web services
Web services
With Pure 5.19.0, the 5.15 API web service endpoint will be removed. If you are currently using the 5.15 endpoint, you will need to update your queries to use one of the supported web service endpoints. For this 5.19.0 version these are:
- 5.16 API
- 5.17 API
- 5.18 API
- newly introduced 5.19 API
