How to Bulk Reset Password in PureHow to Bulk Reset Password in Pure
What
If it is required to bulk reset passwords for a number of users NOT using SSO in Pure, this can be done using the below method.
NOTE
If users logs in via any external authentication systems based on SAML2, LDAP/AD, CAS, Radius etc. where passwords are managed in those systems they are not affected as the password handling is managed in those systems. So following these steps will not reset their passwords. This is only for users who logs in directly via the Pure login page.
How
- Go to Master Data > Users
- Locate all users of interest. It could be all or selected ones. Use filters to select sub-selections of all users, for example as below. This will find manually created users which are of interest here.
- Use the bulk-mark tool (1) - see below:
- Mark all users of interest - either select all (1), or individually (2) as in screenshot below:
- Then click on Bulk edit. A number of options now appear:
- Select: Change user password > Password reset. This option will generate an e-mail where a link is provided with access to reset the password within 24 hours!
- Press "Next"
- A confirmation page will appear with a summary of the amount of users having their password reset.
- Press "Apply the changes" to confirm.
- When done a log file of the result will be generated and can be downloaded as documentation of the action.
