Vendor Message When Accessing PureVendor Message When Accessing Pure

What

When you log into Pure, as Administrator, you can be met with some different messages like:

  • "Good news, your Pure (version 5.X0) is up to date. Staying up to date helps us best support you."
  • "Pure is ready to update"
  • "It's time to update your Pure"
  • "Pure version out of date"

How

  • The message is primarily to provide guidance as to how Pure can support you through upgrading and for what versions we provide comprehensive support.
  • This is not configurable, but there is a schedule depending on how many versions behind you are.
  • It was first introduced in 5.16.0 and then updated for 5.18.
  • The exact wording of all the messages and their timing is as follows (assuming you have upgraded to 5.18):
Case 1

Message: "Good news, your Pure (version 5.X.0) is up to date. Staying up to date helps us best support you."

Visibility: Message to be shown as system message, once on first login to up to date version.

Case 2

Message: "Pure is ready to update"

Visibility: Message to be shown as system message, once on first login, and once 1 month before release date of new version

  • For our hosted customers with automatic updates: The Pure team is working hard to upgrade you to the latest version.
  • For customers who choose to update on their own schedule: A new Pure version (5.X1) is available, check out the highlights of the new release and consider updating. Right now you're running 5.X0 - this will be supported until version 5.X3 is released.
Case 3

Message: "It's time to update your Pure"

Visibility: Message to be shown as system message, once a week from first login

  • For customers who choose to update on their own schedule: A new Pure version (5.X2) is available, please check out the highlights of the new release and consider updating soon. Your current version (5.X0) will no longer be supported once the next version (5.X3) is released.
Case 4

Message: "Pure version out of date. Your current version (5.X0) is no longer fully supported and no further issues relating to this version will be resolved. Once you upgrade to version 5.X1 or higher, you can again benefit from full support. Please contact the Pure Support Team to notify us which version you wish to upgrade to, or in case you have any questions about Elsevier´s Release Policy."

Visibility: Message to be shown as system message, daily from first login

Note: The job "Check for Pure update" seems to be responsible for this daily message and you can turn it off or remove the job from schedule. We (Elsevier) do not recommend that this is done.
